MAIN RESULTS

  • The annual variation rate of the CPI for the month of November stood at 3.0%, one tenth below that registered in October
  • The annual core inflation rate increased by one tenth, to 2.6%
  • The monthly variation of the general index was 0.2%
  • The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) placed its annual rate at 3.2%, the same as that of the previous month

The annual rate of the general Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the month of November was 3.0%, one tenth lower than that registered the previous month.

The group that stood out the most for its influence on the decrease in the annual rate was:

Housing, whose annual rate decreased by 1.8 points, to 5.7%. This decrease was due to the drop in electricity prices, compared to the rise in November 2024.

Among the groups with a positive influence, the following stood out:

Leisure and culture, which placed its annual variation at 1.2%, which meant more than one point above that of last month. This behavior was mainly due to the prices of tourist packages, which fell less than in November last year.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages, whose annual rate increased by four tenths, to 2.8%. This behavior was mainly due to the increase in the prices of oils and fats, which fell in November 2024; and to that of the prices of milk, cheese and eggs, which rose more than in the same month of the previous year.

The annual variation rate of core inflation (general index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) stood at 2.6%, one tenth higher than that registered the previous month.

MONTHLY EVOLUTION OF CONSUMER PRICES

In November, the monthly variation rate of the general CPI was 0.2%.

The groups with the greatest positive monthly impact on the monthly CPI rate were:

Transport, with a rate of 0.5% and an impact of 0.071, due to the increase in the prices of fuels and lubricants for personal vehicles.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages, whose monthly rate of 0.3% had an impact of 0.060 on the general CPI. This evolution was due to the rise in the prices of milk, cheese and eggs, and meat.

For its part, among the groups with a negative monthly impact, the following stood out:

Hotels, cafes and restaurants, with a variation of -0.5% due to the decrease in the prices of accommodation services. This group had an impact of -0.077 on the general CPI.

The CPI recorded positive annual rates in all autonomous communities in November.

The Community of Madrid presented the highest rate (3.7%) and the Canary Islands the lowest (2.3%).
