SUSTAINED IMPULSE IN COMPANY INCORPORATIONS
During October, 11,719 companies were incorporated in Spain, consolidating the ninth month of dynamism. This volume represents a 9% year-on-year increase compared to the 10,754 recorded in the same period of 2024, thereby linking six consecutive months of growth following the declines observed in the first four months of the year.
Although the current rate is more moderate, it follows in the wake of the largest spike that occurred in May, with an increase of 35.9%. Geographically, activity is significantly concentrated, as Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia, and the Valencian Community jointly account for seven out of ten incorporations of new companies.
In terms of growth rates, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and La Rioja lead the advance, while Navarre and Extremadura reported the largest drops.
CAPITAL INCREASES
Capital increase operations, understood as a reflection of business confidence in growth projects, had shown a favorable evolution with continuous increases since the month of May. However, last October recorded a slight year-on-year decrease of 0.2%.
According to the report published by the Association of Registrars, upcoming monthly reports will be crucial to discern whether this decrease is merely a temporary adjustment or if it marks a change in the trend.
Regarding the territorial distribution of these operations, Madrid leads the volume with 679 increases, despite recording a slight decrease of 1.6% compared to the previous year.
It is followed by Catalonia, which recorded 478 increases and an increase of 5.3%. The largest increases were observed in Extremadura, Cantabria, Ceuta and Melilla, and Navarre, while Murcia, the Canary Islands, and Castile and León were the territories where they decreased the most.
SIGNIFICANT DROP IN BANKRUPTCY PROCEEDINGS
Regarding bankruptcy proceedings, the Commercial Registries recorded 364 bankruptcies during October. This figure represents a notable 15.3% decrease compared to the same month of 2024, when 430 bankruptcies were reached. The geographical concentration of insolvency remains high, with Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and Madrid jointly accounting for more than half of the bankruptcies recorded in the analyzed month.
