- The Eurozone unemployment rate remained stable last April at 6.3%, while in the European Union as a whole, it repeated its historic low of 6%, according to data published by Eurostat
The European statistical office estimates that in the fourth month of 2026, a total of 13.23 million people were unemployed in the UE, of whom 11.07 million were in the Eurozone.
This represents a monthly decrease of 137,000 unemployed people in the EU and 84,000 in the Eurozone, while compared to April of the previous year, unemployment grew by 82,000 people in the Twenty-Seven and by 45,000 in the Eurozone.
The highest unemployment rates in the EU corresponded to Finland, with 10.6%; Spain, with 10.3%; ahead of Greece, with 9.5%. Conversely, the lowest figures were observed in Bulgaria, with 2.8%; Poland, with 3%; and Czechia, with 3.1%.
Regarding those under 25, the EU unemployment rate fell in April to 15.1% from 15.6%, while in the Eurozone it decreased to 14.7%, compared to 15.1% in March.
In absolute terms, the number of unemployed young people in the EU reached 2.91 million people, of whom 2.33 million resided in the Eurozone.
In the case of Spain, in April 2026 there were 2.58 million people without employment, of whom 447,000 were under 25 years old. Thus, youth unemployment stood at 23.7%, the second highest in the community block behind Sweden (24.4%) and ahead of Finland (22.2%).
