EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATIONS AND TRADE UNIONS AGREE TO COMPEL ALL CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES TO JOIN THE PENSION PLAN

  • This was reported this Tuesday during the conference ‘Practical experience in the implementation of the first sectoral simplified occupational pension plan’, organized by the construction employers’ association CNC, CEOE, and the insurance employers’ association Unespa

The contribution to the workers’ pension plan must be made regardless of their salary level and their registration date with the company.

At the moment, there are 71,940 companies attached to the plan as promoting entities, with 710,681 workers registered in the so-called ‘Simplified Occupational Pension Plan for the Construction Sector’, more than 90% of the employees in the sector. Contributions have generated more than 230 million euros in consolidated rights since 2022, which represents an average of 324 euros per worker.

According to the agreement between employers and unions, wage increases for 2025 will be 4% —integrating a 3.5% direct increase plus a 0.5% additional contribution to the pension plan— and 3.25% in 2026 —a 3% wage increase and an additional 0.25% to the plan—.

Likewise, they agreed to extend the wage guarantee clause for the years 2025 and 2026, which would operate in the event that the sum of the general CPI for December of both years exceeds 7.25%, with a limit of 9.25%, and which would be applied through an additional revision in 2027, to be split 50% between wage increases and contributions to the pension plan.
