MAIN RESULTS
- The flash estimate of the CPI places its annual variation at 3.2% in April, two tenths below that registered in March
- The annual rate of the flash estimate of core inflation decreases by one tenth, to 2.8%
- The annual variation of the flash estimate of the HICP is 3.5%
The estimated annual inflation of the CPI in April 2026 is 3.2%, according to the flash estimate prepared by the INE.
This indicator provides a preview of the CPI which, if confirmed, would mean that the annual rate decreases by two tenths, since in the month of March this variation was 3.4%.
This evolution is mainly due to electricity prices, which decrease more than in April 2025. And also, although to a lesser extent, to the prices of tourist packages, which rise, but less than in the same month of the previous year.
On the other hand, the prices of fuels and lubricants for personal vehicles have an upward effect, as they rise compared to the drop in April last year.
The estimated annual variation rate of core inflation (general index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) decreases by one tenth, to 2.8%.
EVOLUTION OF THE MONTHLY RATE
Consumer prices register a rate of 0.4% in April compared to the month of March, according to the flash estimate of the CPI.
HARMONISED INDEX OF CONSUMER PRICES (HICP)
In the month of April, the estimated annual variation rate of the HICP increases by one tenth and stands at 3.5%.
The estimated annual rate of core inflation for the HICP stands at 3.1%.
For its part, the estimated monthly variation of the HICP is 0.7%.
